"Seeing" Things Differently

Students read letters written between William Shandy (Patriot) and Abraham White (Loyalist) and described their different perspectives of the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party.

"The Dark" Written by Lemony Snicket

This week we will continue to talk about figurative language and we will begin learning about tone and mood.
The story "The Dark" written by Lemony Snicket has so many WONDERFUL examples of both of these. This story will be our mentor text and read aloud focus this week.

AT HOME EXTENSION: Listen to the story at home with a grown up. Try to find examples of figurative language together. Talk about how the author's words and tone effect the overall mood of the story and the way that it makes you, as the reader, feel.
